Review: The Nissan LEAF

Nissan is a very experienced car maker company and has been manufacturing both sports and roadsters for quite a number of years. Currently, nearly all the car makers have entered the electric car market. As the awareness of a greener environment sinks in, more car makers are investing their money and energies into making hybrid vehicles and electric cars.

The Nissan LEAF is an electric car that is a pure electric car with no diesel engine at all, and certainly cannot be called a hybrid. The LEAF will be released in 2011 and would be a car powered by a lithium-ion battery. It is worth to mention here that it will be one of the few vehicles getting its power from the lithium-ion battery. The lithium-ion battery provides better power and acceleration to the LEAF and its performance can be easily compared with metal-hydrate battery packs. The car is fitted with a motor that moves its front wheels. You can easily recharge the battery at home or at a charge station. The battery would be able to last 100 miles at a top cruise speed of 90 mph.

The car will come in two different models; the major differences would be the navigation and an improved interior. The interior will also feature auto remote start and remote navigation features. Apart from that the Nissan LEAF has all the technological gadgets that one can think of including Bluetooth, keyless ignition and a rear view camera.

The car is a delight to drive and offers a very smooth ride with an appropriate level of the torque available as the gas paddle is pressed. During the drive you would easily feel that the weight of the car is evenly balanced. The car seats five people comfortably with some room to spare.

Overall, the Nissan LEAF is one of the better designed green cars out there in the market, and would certainly sell very well when it is released. The Nissan LEAF would be available at a reasonable price of about $33,000 when released.
